Rescue Diver
How do you take a subject like accident prevention and management and turn it into fun?
Call it the Rescue Diver program!
>A pre-requisite to any leadership level course, the hugely popular Rescue Diver program develops your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render first aid.
Even if you never took another dive course, as Instructors, ideally, we'd like to see all divers train to Rescue.
Year after year, it's continued to be the most popular course we've ever offered.
What's Covered?
- Self-rescue and diver stress
- Diving first aid
- Emergency management and equipment considerations
- Swimming and non-swimming assists
- Panicked diver response
- Underwater problems
- Missing diver procedures
- Surfacing the unconscious diver
- In-water artificial respiration
- Egress (exits)
- First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
- Dive accident scenarios
With FIVE comprehensive dry briefing sessions followed by TWO 3 hour pool sessions and TEN rescue scenarios conducted over TWO days in open water, this is one of the all-time favorite courses of anyone who's trained through it!
Prerequisites?
- Training through the initial confined water (pool) rescue session only requires an Open Water Diver certification.
- To participate in the subsequent open water rescue training sessions, the student must be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent from another training organization, with 20 or more logged dives documenting experience in deep diving and underwater navigation.
- Be 12 years old (or 84 dog years).
- Have completed a sanctioned FIRST AID/CPR course in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR-Primary Care) and basic first aid (Secondary Care) within the past two years (24 months).
Note: that we also teach the first aid course and updates right here at Happy Divers Den.
