During the Open Water course, you'll learn about SCUBA equipment, the underwater environment, the physiology of diving, and dive safety procedures.
During the pool sessions, you're trained for your first, fantastic open water experiences by becoming familiar with diving techniques and skills while developing confidence in the use of equipment.
WHAT'S INVOLVED?
The Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide, and you easily earn this rating by completing...
- 5 pool dives and knowledge development sessions
- 4 open water dives (ocean, lake, inland quarry or Caribbean water, mon!)
COMPLETE YOUR CERTIFICATION ON HOLIDAY!
At this time of the year, some divers prefer to train through their pool and theory with us here in Mississauga over just one weekend, then complete their certification while on holiday with 4 fantastic open water dives over 2 days.
Or, you can delay your open water dives until May when we go back into Ontario water for the summer, and continue to dive & train with us throughout the season!
PRIVATE TUITION
Sometimes, your agenda doesn't allow flexibility to take training at set times. Then consider Private classes. Some programs that we offer are available (some can only be done in groups) but is dependent on pool and availability of Instructors. We would be happy to discuss options and costs if this is something that appeals to you.
WHO CAN DO IT?
Virtually anyone who's in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water.
Plus, for your kiddies, a Jr. programme is available for ages 10-15.
WHEN CAN YOU DO IT?
Anytime! We teach year 'round with new courses starting every month!
OUR "ALL-INCLUSIVE" COURSE INCLUDES...
(And when we say ALL-INCLUSIVE, we mean it! There are NO hidden charges!)
- Student Kit including textbook (no copied "handouts")
- Waterproof dive tables (not photocopies)
- A diver Log Book (signed-off by your Instructor)
- All classroom and pool instruction (pool time is included)
- Complimentary use of weights/belts and wetsuits (we don't make you buy or rent them!)
- All breathing air required (throughout the course)
- Complimentary use of an underwater air delivery system
- A letter of Professional Referral (readily accepted internationally)
- An Instructor or DiveMaster always within arm's reach of you any time you're near or under the water!

NOT SURE WHAT TO BUY?
During your very first briefing session on Friday afternoon, (Equipment Considerations), we train you on the "real" in's and out's of equipment, so you'll become an informed consumer!
Plus, as a full retail facility, we stock the full range of dive gear from masks, snorkels and fins onwards, so you have the opportunity to touch, see and try on any gear you need ... AND ... we offer you a 10% discount on ALL your gear while in-course!
Or, depending on your budget, you might want to break it up!
PLUS ... if you want to complete the open water portion in another part of the world, with internationally honoured teaching accreditations, Happy Divers Den provides you with a readily accepted no charge referral letter to a receiving professional based at your holiday destination! Just make sure that it is a PADI dive centre.
